Inspired by an imaginary book club idea I had as a lil girl, NDN Girls Book Club is a series of collaborations w/ Native women artists to inspire young people to keep writing & find community in art.

NDN Girls Book Club hosts free community workshops for Native people, especially Native youth & girls, in poetry, zine-making, editing, book trading, Native literatures talks, and more. We also co-host events that aim to build community for Native art and literature!

Abalone Mountain Press is a Diné woman-run press. They have a podcast, free online and in-person events, pop-up markets, and much more.

Birchbark Books, owned by Louise Erdrich, hosts author talks and various events remotely and in-person. Employees also include Indigenous Nations Poets fellows. They post book recommendation and staff picks often!

Changing Wxman Collective publishes a public, online arts & literary journal highlighting BIPOC artists of marginalized genders.

Indigenous Nations Poets hosts fellowships, posts opportunities for Native writers, and holds free conversations & workshops with established Native authors.

The Rez Girls Book Club meets monthly on Zoom to discuss Native and Indigenous literature. Their biggest goal is to give exposure to Native authors.

Palabras is a Native-owned bilingual bookstore that shares book lists, hosts free community events in-person and online, amplifies opportunities, and promotes new releases!

SOFTER SOUNDS is an endeavor started by Kinsale & Nanibaah (Diné singer-songwriter) to curate safe and fun pop-up spaces highlighting WOC & queer artists of color. Past events have featured Tia Wood, Itzcalli, NIA, spoken word poets, local vendors, and more. Photos by Jay Will.
